COMMERCIAL DOOR CLEARANCES AND WEATHER PERFORMANCE

Commercial entrance doors which are centre hung on concealed overhead closers are designed for heavy usage, with a low threshold for ease of access and the facility for the door to swing both ways.   It must be stressed that there are no industry standards (British Standards, BBA or the like) for air and water penetration for commercial doors and frames.

Most centre hung doors available on the market today have a similar design with double woolpile to the door stiles and either rubber draughtstrips or brush pile to the top and bottom door rails.  These items are intended to assist in minimising the clearance required for the door to open and close and are not designed to seal the door against air, wind or water.

The doors supplied are also anti-finger trap doors which we market first and foremost as a  door with a safety feature, especially where high traffic or children use them.  Again, most anti-finger trap doors with an integral anti-finger trap stile (not an after market type) are centre hung doors with concealed overhead closers as mentioned above.

Consequently commercial entrance doors do not offer the same level of weathering normally associated with domestic entrance doors, nor are commercial doors ever sold or intended as weatherproof doors.

Our policy is one of constant product development and we therefore reserve the right to change specifications without notice.
